Getting Around in Belgrade

Here are some ways and tips to navigate your way around Belgrade.

Airport

Belgrade Airport is a 20 minute drive from the city centre. Most hotels can arrange transport.

Car

If you come by car, parking in the city centre is limited on the streets. Also there are no ticket machines and you have to purchase your ticket through SMS. Garages cost between 4-10€ per day and some are free for the first 3 hours. We usually park at Garaža Pionirski park. Another good option is Garage Zeleni venac.

SIM Card & Navigation

Serbia is not part of the EU so you will have to turn off your data. You can use free wifi at hotels/restaurants or get a local SIM card. A popular provider is Yettel. To help you navigate around the city, you can also use an app called ‘HERE WeGo’. It’s free and after you download the map for Serbia you can navigate without internet.

CarGo

Belgrade’s version of Uber. This is a safe and easy way to travel around the city.

Taxi

Don’t get into an ‘unregistered’ taxi as they are known to rip off customers. To ensure this doesn’t happen, have your hotel/restaurant order a taxi for you. The well-known taxi companies include Lux, Pink and Plavi.

Public Transport

Buses and trams can be used with a BusPlus card which can be purchased and topped up at kiosks.

Boat tours

A great way to see the city is on a boat cruise along the Danube and Sava Rivers. At Belgrade Fortress there is a Cruise Belgrade stand where you can book your tour.

Currency

A good app to use to calculate costs from Serbian Dinar to your currency is ‘My Currency Converter’ and it works without internet.
