Paros Paradise, Greece
Paros was our first stop, for 2 nights, on our 2 week Greek Island hopping trip. It is a small island with beautiful beaches and villages with trendy shops. This is how we recommend you spend your time here.
Naoussa Town
Moriatis Wine Tasting
Lefkes
Santa Maria Beach
How to get here?
After a 4 hour ferry from Athens we arrived at the port of Parikia. At the ferry terminal a friendly man with a luxurious Mercedes approached us and offered to drive us to our accommodation in Naoussa for 20 Euro. It was a 20 minute drive and we think the price was reasonable. He also gave us a ride back to the port. If you want to pre book transfers, call Stavros on +30 6973 43 43 43.
Where to stay?
We stayed at Villa Kelly. It is located on a quiet street and it’s about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Naoussa. We arrived a couple of hours before check in and relaxed by the pool until our room was ready. It was 45 Euros a night which is very reasonable.
50 meters down the road is a famous bakery called Batista. It is open from 6am to 11pm. It is well priced and the food is delicious. We had fresh orange juice, feta filled pastries and a custard filled pastry.
How to get around?
We rented a quad bike for 1 day for 37 euros. We were able to take it on a Wednesday night and they picked it up from our hotel on the Friday morning. The shop is called Spanopoulos and they have 2 stores in Naoussa.
Why should you stay in Naoussa?
The seaside town of Naoussa is beautiful. All the houses and streets are painted white every year. This combined with colourful plants, seaside views and lovely shops make it one of the most beautiful towns we visited in Greece.
There are so many nice restaurants, bars and cafes. It was very hard to decide on where to eat. After asking for recommendations and researching online we visited the following.
Fotis All Day Bar is located directly on a small and secluded beach. We got drinks here and watched the sunset.
Sousouro is located on a small corner in Old Town. It’s one of the island's best breakfast places, offering healthy options. However, it is open all day and turns into a Bar, serving delicious cocktails. Some popular items on their menu are superfood smoothies, homemade granola yogurt honey and toast with avocado and hazelnut butter.
Tsachpinis-Ouzeri is a traditional restaurant located on the fishing port. It shares a small seaside square with other restaurants. Light bulbs hanging above the square create a cool atmosphere.
Moraitis Winery
In Naoussa, we had a wine tasting at Moraitis Winery in a beautiful stone building. It was founded over 100 years ago and they produce high quality wines. The wine tasting flight menu ranges between 2–4 wines and costs between 8–14 Euros.
Lefkes
We woke up at 6am and drove to Lefkes. This town is located in the mountains and has beautiful white streets similar to Naoussa. The streets were very quiet. Interesting shadows formed as the sun rose. There were many photogenic locations with pink flowers. We couldn’t find any cafes open for breakfast so we went back to Naoussa where there were more options.
Santa Maria Beach
There are many beautiful beaches to choose from. We decided on Santa Maria. It is a 10 minute drive from Naoussa. When we went it was very quiet and the beach bars hadn’t opened yet. They still had beach beds and umbrellas and day hire was €20. The water was shallow and clear. It can be windy and it’s popular with wind surfers. It has a great view of the mountainous Naxos. Other beaches that were recommended to us include Kolymbithres, Monastiri, Chrissi Akti, Ambelas, Molos, Piperi
