Phillip Island In A Day

Phillip Island is about 2 hours from Melbourne. It is well known for hosting the Moto GP, and having a large population of seals and penguins. This is how we recommend you spend your time here.

  1. Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit

  2. Nobbies Centre

  3. Penguin Parade

Before driving over the bridge to Phillip Island, we stopped for a Fish and Chips at San Remo Fishermans Co-Op. As we were driving past Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, we noticed cars racing so we went in to have a look. The track is in a picturesque spot next to the ocean.

We continued on to Nobbies Centre. There is a boardwalk track offering spectacular coastal views and colourful vegetation. Australia’s largest fur seal colony is 1km offshore. However, you will have to book a boat tour around the island.

Instead, we booked Penguins Plus. As the sun went down, we sat on the tiered seating and waited for the penguins. Most seats could see the penguins land on the beach and make their way up the beach to their nests. We got seats at the front and were so close to the penguins as they went under the seating. There were thousands of penguins and they were very noisy. The use of phones and cameras is prohibited as it may scare them. Once the majority of the penguins had passed us, we stood up and watched them come out the other side.
